Why upper East Tennessee calls Kings Crown Dumpster Rental

A local hauler, not a call center with a truck somewhere

One local operator, one roll-off truck, and a straightforward idea: quote a real price, turn up when you said you would, and treat somebody's property like it is your own. When you dial (423) 830-4153 you reach our yard on 2009 Independence Way — not a national dispatch queue that has never tried to back a loaded truck down a short 1920s drive with a detached garage at the end of it.

That local knowledge is most of the job here. Knowing which streets a loaded truck can actually turn on. Knowing that plaster and lath out of a hundred-year-old Kingsport house weighs several times what modern drywall does, and will fill a tonnage allowance while the box still looks half empty. Knowing the Tennessee disposal bans well enough to tell you what has to come out of the load before it gets to the scale rather than after.

  • Flat-rate quotes with the tonnage allowance stated up front
  • Same-day and next-day delivery across Sullivan County and Hawkins County
  • Driveway boards on every placement, never an add-on
  • Straight guidance on what Tennessee actually requires you to keep out of the load
  • Licensed and insured in Tennessee, locally owned

Why choose us

Six reasons contractors keep our number saved

  • Local, not a call center

You reach our yard on 2009 Independence Way, not a national dispatch queue. The person who answers knows which streets a loaded truck can actually turn on and which older drives will not take one at all.

  • One flat price, written down

Delivery, rental period, pickup, fuel, disposal and a stated tonnage allowance in a single number. If something would push you over, we tell you before the truck leaves.

  • Same-day when you need it

Call before noon and most Kingsport orders go out the same day. Swap-outs on live jobsites get priority over everything else.

  • We work right through winter

Tennessee winters do not stop us. Clear the placement spot and we will deliver — frozen ground actually carries a loaded truck better than saturated spring ground does.

  • The right box, not the biggest

Weight fills a container long before volume does. We will talk you into a smaller can if that is the honest answer.

  • Loads sorted properly

Scrap tires, lead-acid batteries and used oil all have their own routes here, and Tennessee sorts landfills into classes that decide where a load can legally go. We tell you what has to come out before it reaches the scale, not after.

Know before you load

Three things that decide where your load can go

Tennessee sorts its landfills into classes. Class I takes household waste; Class III and IV take construction, demolition and yard debris. It is not paperwork — it decides which site your container can legally be tipped at, and a mixed load has fewer places it can go than a sorted one. That is most of why separating pays.

Some things never ride along. Whole scrap tires and lead-acid batteries have their own required routes here rather than the landfill, and used oil, paint, solvents, fuel, chemicals, propane and anything holding refrigerant all have to be handled separately. Your county convenience center or a scheduled collection event is normally the answer.

Heavy is not the same as banned. Concrete, brick, block and dirt are perfectly acceptable — they just need their own small low-fill container, because they run out of weight long before they run out of room. Mixed into a general load they will cost you an overage and can make the whole load harder to place.

We will walk you through exactly what has to come out before you load anything. Start with the Tennessee allowed and prohibited items guide, or read where your load actually ends up.

How it works

From your phone call to an empty driveway

No forms, no portal logins, no waiting on a quote email. Five steps, and the first is a conversation with somebody who has actually loaded a container.

Roll-off container being set on a Kingsport, TN property

Two minutes on the phone is the whole booking

Tell us the address, roughly what is going in, where you want it and when. That is the entire process on your side. We handle sizing, scheduling, protection, hauling and disposal.

If you are not sure what size you need, do not guess — describe the pile. Sizing containers is what we do all day, and we would rather talk you into the cheaper box than sell you space you will never fill.

Call (423) 830-4153
  1. 1

Call and tell us the job

One short conversation. We ask what you are clearing, where the box needs to sit and when you need it. No forms, no waiting on an email.

  2. 2

We size it and quote it flat

You get one number covering delivery, the rental period, pickup, disposal and a stated tonnage allowance. If a smaller box does the job we will say so.

  3. 3

Delivered on boards, where you want it

The driver walks the spot with you, lays protection under the rails and sets the container square. In winter, clear the snow off the spot and we will handle the rest.

  4. 4

    Load at your own pace

Keep it level with the top rail and keep the banned items out. Need a swap mid-job or an early pickup? One call and we are on it.

  5. 5

We haul it and sort it right

Clean concrete, metal and green waste get routed for recovery rather than buried. You get your driveway back the way you left it.

Construction dumpster on a jobsite near Kingsport, TN

The thing nobody tells you

Bigger is not always the safe choice

Most people ordering their first dumpster assume the biggest container is the least risky option. With light, bulky material — furniture, boxes, insulation, cabinetry — that is true. With anything dense it is the opposite.

A 30 or 40 yard box loaded with roofing shingles, or with plaster and lath out of an older Kingsport house, will blow past its tonnage allowance while it still looks half empty, and you pay the overage by the ton. A 20 yard with a matched allowance often costs less for exactly the same job. Concrete, brick and asphalt go further still — so they need a dedicated low-fill heavy debris container rather than a corner of a mixed load.

Ask us and you will get the honest answer, even when the honest answer is the smaller box. The size guide walks through the maths, and the cost breakdown covers what actually moves the price.

Upper East Tennessee specifics

Ridge-and-valley ground, and the weather that comes with it

Two things about this region change how a roll-off job actually runs, and a national dispatcher knows neither. The first is the ground. A loaded truck wants roughly 60 feet of straight approach and clear overhead room, and a good share of lots here are cut into a grade with a short steep drive, a tight turn at the top, or a long gravel run up a hollow that softens the moment the red clay gets wet.

None of that means no container. It usually means a different container, placed somewhere else, or a delivery timed for after the ground has dried. What it does mean is that the two-minute conversation before you book is worth far more here than it would be on a flat suburban grid.

The second is weather. Straight-line wind, hail, ice storms that bring down mature hardwood across whole neighborhoods, and the tail ends of tropical systems pushing flooding rain into the mountains. After a widespread event, containers get scarce across the whole Tri-Cities within a day or two — so the useful advice is simply to call early rather than waiting until your yard is clear.

Read the storm cleanup guide before the next system comes through, and the permit guide if the container has to go on the street.

What locals say

Straight talk from customers around upper East Tennessee

Called at nine, had a 20 yard on the drive by two. Boards down, doors facing the basement steps, and the driveway looked exactly the same when they picked it up a week later.

Karen V.Colonial Heights — Basement Cleanout

We build all over Sullivan County and Kings Crown is the only hauler that has never left us sitting on a full box. When they say Tuesday, it is Tuesday.

Dan R.Blountville — Residential Builder

Two-layer tear-off on a 1920s house with a short drive. They talked me down from a 30 to a 20 on the weight and set it tight to the eave. Saved me the overage and half a day of carrying.

Tony M.Kingsport — Roof Tear-Off

They warned me the plaster and lath would hit the tonnage before the box looked full, which nobody else mentioned. Booked two smaller pulls instead of one big one.

FAQs

Dumpster rental questions, answered

The questions we field most often from Kingsport homeowners and contractors. More on the full FAQ page.

How much does it cost to rent a dumpster in Kingsport?

Price depends on the size, how dense the debris is, how long you keep it and how far you are from our yard. What matters more is how the price is built. Ours is a flat rate covering delivery, the rental period, pickup, fuel, disposal and a stated tonnage allowance, so the number you are quoted is the number you pay unless you go over the weight. Call with a short description of the job and you will get a firm figure.

How quickly can you deliver a dumpster in Kingsport?

Most orders placed before noon go out the same day across Kingsport and the nearer Sullivan County towns. Afternoon bookings usually land first thing the next morning. Jobsite swap-outs get priority because a full container stops a crew working. The exceptions are honest ones — severe weather, a street placement that still needs a permit, or a driveway we need to look at before we commit a loaded truck to it.

Do I need a permit for a dumpster in Kingsport?

If the container sits entirely on your own driveway or property, generally no. If it has to sit on a public street, sidewalk or right-of-way, you will usually need a permit from whichever authority controls that road — the City of Kingsport, the county for a county road, or the state for a state route. Tell us the address and we will talk you through who to ask.

What can't go in the dumpster in Tennessee?

Liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, oil, chemicals, batteries, propane tanks, appliances containing refrigerant, asbestos and medical waste are all out. Whole scrap tires and lead-acid batteries have their own required routes in Tennessee rather than the landfill. Heavy debris like concrete and brick is allowed but needs its own small container because of weight. If you are unsure about an item, ask before you load it.

Why does a small container cost less to fill than a big one?

Because weight runs out before space does. Tennessee landfills are sorted into classes that decide where a load can go, and disposal is charged by the ton. A 30 yard box loaded with shingles or plaster and lath will pass its tonnage allowance while it still looks half empty, and you pay the overage per ton. A 20 with a matched allowance often costs less for exactly the same job.

Will the dumpster damage my driveway?

It should not, and we take real steps to prevent it. Boards go under the rails and roller contact points on every driveway placement at no extra charge. Damage almost always happens during the roll-off and pick-up rather than while the container sits. A hot humid East Tennessee afternoon softens asphalt more than people expect, and a surface already cracked or spalling carries more risk whatever anyone does — flag it and we will pick a better spot or a better time of day.

My driveway is steep and narrow. Can you still deliver?

Usually, and it is worth a two-minute call rather than a failed delivery. A loaded roll-off truck needs roughly 60 feet of straight approach and clear overhead room, and a lot of ridge-and-valley lots around here do not have it. The answer is often a smaller container placed differently rather than no container at all. Describe the drive when you call and we will tell you honestly what will work.

What happens after a storm — can you still get to me?

We run storm work as a priority and we keep containers back for it. After a widespread wind or ice event across the Tri-Cities, containers get scarce region-wide within a day or two, so call early rather than waiting until the yard is clear. Keep clean woody brush separate from mixed debris if you possibly can — it is cheaper to handle and it keeps the load moving.
