Dumpster Rental Bristol TN

Bristol is the north-east corner of Sullivan County, the Tennessee half of a city split down the middle of State Street by the state line. It has a proper downtown, a serious music history recognized at the Birthplace of Country Music Museum, Steele Creek Park on the south side and the Speedway a few miles out. The housing runs from turn-of-the-century town houses near the center to post-war neighborhoods to newer building out toward Exit 7 and the lake roads. Because the state line runs through it, it is worth being clear which side of State Street your address is on before anyone starts talking about local rules.

Roll-off containers for Bristol homes and businesses

Near the center the streets are narrow, the houses are close together and the driveways are short, often single-width and running to a detached garage at the back. Plenty of those interiors are plaster over lath with heavy trim. Placement downtown frequently means the curb, and that is a City of Bristol Tennessee question. The post-war neighborhoods have more room, level lots and concrete drives. Out toward the lake and the Weaver Pike side the land climbs and the drives get long, steep and gravel, with cut banks of red clay and hardwood overhead. Steele Creek and the surrounding ridges give the south side of town a lot of rise and fall, and drives there tend to be pitched rather than flat.

Downtown produces older-house renovation and small commercial fit-outs: plaster, lath, old trim, shopfront strip-outs, and layers of flooring. The residential neighborhoods keep us busy with re-roofs, kitchen and bath refits, garage and basement clearances and deck rebuilds. Rental turnover is a steady source of full-unit clearances. On the outskirts we get land clearing, outbuilding demolition and storm debris off the wooded ridges. Race weekends generate their own work, with property owners cleaning up before and after, and short-let houses needing a full clear-out between seasons. Flooring and drywall removal after a burst pipe is a winter regular in the older housing, where the plumbing is as old as the walls around it.

Dumpster rental in Bristol — FAQs

My house is right on State Street. Which city's rules apply?

Whichever side of the line your property actually sits on, and on State Street that can be a matter of a few feet. Bristol Tennessee and Bristol Virginia are separate municipalities with separate requirements for anything on a public street. Check your parcel before you plan on curb placement. If the can is going on your own driveway, none of it applies and we can just deliver.

Can you deliver during a race weekend?

We can, but expect it to take longer and book earlier. Traffic on I-81 and the Volunteer Parkway builds hard around meetings and our truck sits in it like everybody else. If your work is not tied to those dates, schedule around them. If you are cleaning up specifically after a race weekend, tell us and we will get you in the queue before the rush of similar calls.

Old downtown house, plaster everywhere. Which can do I want?

Smaller than instinct tells you. Plaster and lath is dense enough that a big can will reach its weight allowance while still looking half empty, and you pay for the overweight rather than the volume. We usually run two smaller loads on a full interior strip. Tell us the number of rooms coming back to the studs and we will size it against the tonnage.

Is there anywhere you cannot get a truck in Bristol?

A few of the older downtown alleys and some very steep gravel drives on the ridge roads are genuinely too tight or too soft. We need roughly eleven feet of width, sixty feet of straight run and twenty-two feet of height. If your access is marginal, send a photo before booking. It is far better to work that out on the phone than with a truck sitting in your street.
