There is a historic core of eighteenth and nineteenth century buildings along the old road, the courthouse and county offices, the Old Deery Inn, and then a wide spread of rural county in every direction. Tri-Cities Regional Airport, Northeast State and West Ridge High School all sit in this area, and Boone Lake and Appalachian Caverns are just south. The old center has narrow lots, buildings close to the road and some genuinely historic fabric, so placement there needs care and often means the yard rather than the street. Around it, the county spreads into farmland, ridge lots and subdivisions built at every decade from the fifties to last year. Long gravel drives are common, some of them climbing a bench above the road with a tight turn at the top. Nearer Boone Lake the drives fall away toward the water and the ground can be soft in the bottoms. Red clay under gravel is again the deciding factor after rain. Newer subdivision drives are wide concrete with good turnarounds, which is the easiest work we get anywhere in the county.
The variety is wider here than in most of our areas. New-build and addition work generates framing offcuts, packaging and drywall waste. Farm and land work generates barn teardowns, fencing, brush and old equipment. In the historic core we do careful renovation clearances where old plaster, timber and slate come out piece by piece. Around the lake there is dock, deck and boathouse work, plus the storm damage that follows a bad summer. Estate clearances on farm properties are a regular fixture and typically fill more than one can, because outbuildings hold decades of things nobody ever threw away.

Can you deliver to a building site with no house on it yet?
Yes, and we do it often around Blountville. What we need is an established, firm access point rather than fresh fill, room to turn, and a clear instruction on where the can should sit so it does not end up in the way of the slab or the utility trench. If the site is muddy and unrolled, tell us and we will suggest waiting or setting nearer the road.
We are on a well and septic. Where should the can go?
On the driveway or a gravel pad if there is one, and well clear of both the septic field and the well head. Drain lines sit shallow and a loaded can is concentrated weight. If the driveway will not work, look for the firmest, flattest ground you know is not over the field, and tell us where the field runs so we do not track across it turning around.
Is there anything special about renting in the historic part of Blountville?
Practically, yes. The lots are tight, some of the buildings are very old and the road edges are not built for a truck to sit on. We usually place in a yard or a rear access rather than at the curb. If the property is in a historic district there may be additional local rules on work and placement, so confirm those with Sullivan County before you schedule.
Can I get a swap the same week if I fill it?
