Learn moreBloomingdale, Tennessee · Sullivan County
Bloomingdale spreads north-east of Kingsport along a road that follows the old Great Warriors Path, climbing out of the Holston valley toward the state line. It is still one of the larger unincorporated communities in Sullivan County even after Kingsport annexed pieces of it, and it does not read like a subdivision. Fifties and sixties frame houses sit along the pike, working farmsteads sit on the back roads, and newer brick sits on cut-in lots with a view down over the city. Ketron Elementary anchors the middle of it. What we notice hauling out there is the elevation: hardly any of Bloomingdale is flat, and nearly every drive either climbs or drops away from the road.

The pike is lined with older single-story frame and block houses on shallow lots, several with gravel parking pads rather than a proper driveway. Behind that, side roads run up into hollows and along benches cut into the hillside, and that is where the long gravel drives are. A quarter mile of them in places, with a bend near the top and a red clay shoulder that will not hold a loaded truck two days after rain. Rural mailboxes, low service drops and hardwood limbs over the lane are the recurring obstacles. Newer houses on the higher lots usually have concrete but a tight turnaround, so we ask which way you want the doors facing before we drop. Septic fields are common out here as well, and we keep the can well off them.
Bloomingdale generates whole-property work more than single-room remodels. Barn and outbuilding teardowns. An old mobile home being cleared off a family lot before something new goes on it. Thirty years of stored furniture, feed sacks and farm iron coming out of a shed. Roofing is steady, often metal going over frame houses or coming off them. When a place sells, the estate cleanout is the classic job here: a full house, plus a garage, plus whatever has collected along the fence line. Tree and storm debris is the other regular, since the ridges catch wind and a lot of the hardwood is old enough to shed limbs.

Out East Stone Drive and up Bloomingdale Pike, climbing away from the valley floor toward the Virginia line, which is twelve to fifteen minutes from the yard. Main routes in: Bloomingdale Pike, East Stone Drive (US-11W), Bloomingdale Road.

Usually, yes, but tell us what we are dealing with first. We need a lane about eleven feet wide with no soft shoulder, room to straighten out before the drop point, and no washed-out section at the bottom. If there is any doubt we will come look. Where the top of the drive is too tight we will set the can at a wide spot lower down instead.
Often that is the smart call on the Bloomingdale hollow roads. Red clay that looks solid will rut badly under a loaded truck, and a rutted drive costs more to fix than a few days of waiting cost you in rental. Give us a ring and we will talk through the ground you have. If it is a gravel-over-clay drive, a day or two of drying makes a real difference.
Furniture, carpet, clothing, appliances without refrigerant, scrap lumber, general household clutter all go in. What we cannot take is paint and solvents, motor oil, fuel, pesticides, batteries, tires and anything with refrigerant still in it. Set those aside as you work and we will point you to the right disposal route for Sullivan County rather than have them turn up in the load.
Yes. Cleanouts out this way rarely finish on schedule, and extending is straightforward. Let us know before your end date and we will roll it on at the daily rate rather than treating it as an overrun. If you would rather empty and reset, a swap is often better value than a long extension on a can you have already filled.
